As all rabbit owners are aware, rabbits moult (often referred to as shedding) regularly. initially when rabbits are young, their baby coat is replaced at around 5 months by a transitional coat. after this, the rabbits adult coat will develop and from here on, rabbits generally moult twice a year (spring and autumn).. Normal molting can take on different patterns. ive already mentioned that juniors molt out their baby fur. thats just one of the normal molts that will go on during the life cycle of a holland lop.. Normal shedding: proper care a healthy rabbit will usually change her coat twice a year. if all things are normal, the shed areas will regrow fur as the old coat falls out. some unfortunate rabbits seem to shed all the time..
If you have found a wild rabbit, please see here for proper next steps and resources. for behavior problems, please include the rabbit's age, how long you have had the rabbit, when the behavior occurred, and if/when it was neutered. this will help other rabbitors tailor advice appropriate to your situation.. Rabbits do have natural shedding cycles where they shed a lot of hair. this usually occurs every 6 months or so. finding a lot of hair in these situations can be normal. this shedding usually lasts about 2 weeks. if your rabbit continues to shed for another week, i recommend that you take him in to see your veterinarian.. Rabbits will shed in different ways. some rabbits will take a couple of weeks or more to loose their old coat of fur. other rabbits will be ready to get rid of their old coats all in one day and these rabbits are the ones that cannot be neglected once they start shedding..
