Goat milk is the best, followed by whole cow's milk. please don't "experiment" on baby goats. it is vital that they get goat colostrum for their first 24 hours. they will then be ready to drink pasteurized goat or whole cow's milk. i speak from experience. the first year i was in goats, we fed commercial replacer made for goat kids.. For colostrum replacer i did: 3c whole raw jersey milk 1 farm fresh egg 1.5 tbsp raw honey and for milk replacer i've just been giving raw jersey and raw nubian goat, blended, would do all goat but mama is low prod. my jersey's milk is about 30-40% mf....
Homemade lamb milk replacer: 1 two-quart carton whole (vitamind) milk cup heavy whipping cream 1 egg -> whisk egg & cream together, add milk. (double egg & cream the first couple of weeks for adequate weight gain, if necessary. I got two goat kids from an auction at 1.5 weeks old. they both had diarrhea and were skinny. i put them on 1/3 buttermilk and 2/3 whole milk from the store.. Puppy milk replacer for orphaned puppies certainly finding a surrogate dam is preferable both for nutrition and care, this is not always possible. there are several ways to go with milk replacer so i'll identify the possibilities..
