How To Reduce Scar Tissue On A Horse's Leg

Another excellent remedy to get rid of scar tissue is apple cider vinegar. its acidic nature will exfoliate the affected skin and remove dead skin, which in turn will reduce the appearance of scars. dip a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply it on the affected area. leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes, then wash it off with water.. To help break up the scar tissue, you can start with warming up the tissue in the area first. you can use a massage cream or lotion, but you dont have to. start off by pushing very lightly and make small circles directly over the scar. then you can go up and down and side to side.. Hardened scars form for a variety of reasons. surgery, improper stitches, vigorous activity with open wounds, and a variety of other issues can cause hardened scar tissue..

I bought a cutting horse mare with the same problem a few years ago. found a good surgical vet and had all the excess scar tissue removed. ended up with a small flat scar the size of my thumb, and a really good cutting horse, for around $300.. Now the wound has healed, but there is still a dime-sized scabby area where the hair has not regrown, and a marble-sized lump of scar tissue underneath. it does not bother her and is merely cosmetic, but as it is on the front of her foreleg and she is for sale i would like to reduce it if not get rid of it completely.. Surgery can be performed to remove or rearrange the scar tissue and rejoin the new wound edges so there is a likelihood of a more elastic and less disruptive union. revision can also improve the appearance of an ugly scar that has affected a valuable horse's show career or salability. but the results are not guaranteed..
